Looking for a wedding photographer?
Need some help to make a good decision? Here are some things to think about when choosing your wedding photographer…
Choosing a wedding photographer is an important decision and with all of the choice out there it can be a little overwhelming for couples. Whilst it is fantastic to have choice, having too much choice can be part of the problem, especially since photographers offer a vast range of services and products and trying to compare one with another can become a little like comparing apples and pears! To try and help couples make an informed decision, I have put together some information, which is intended to help you choose the right photographer for you.
So first things first, do some research. Have a good look around and try and come up with a shortlist of about four or five photographers whose work and style you like. Once you have your shortlist of photographers, make an appointment to go and visit them. Don’t be fobbed off with ‘one off’ stand out images, ask to see complete weddings. Looking at complete weddings will give you the reassurance that the photographer can handle every aspect of the wedding from early morning preparation, the couples arrival, guests arrival, ceremony, formal groups, informal candid’s, car shots, couple portraits, speeches, first dance, detail, etc. Remember that one off, ‘wow factor’ images are great but they are only one small part of the wedding photography package.
Tempted by a cheap offer? Remember that the best wedding photographers get booked up early and don’t need to offer big discounts to get business. Looking at quantity rather than quality? It is far better to have 24 fantastic wedding photographs rather than 200 average ones. We know that wedding photographers vary greatly in price and it is difficult make meaningful comparisons with regards to what is on offer, thats why it is important to meet up with photographers so that you can see exactly what you are buying. Remember your wedding photographs are really important, and this is not the place to cut corners. Having saved hard and spent a fortune on your dress, the venue and the flowers, you need to invest in a wedding photographer who is going to give you a beautiful, romantic record of your wedding day. And remember, you cannot do a retake once the wedding day is gone so restricting your photography budget may not be a false economy!
